Iranian prof. wins Down's syndrome prize
Afrouz, who is dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Education at Tehran University, will receive his Prize at the opening ceremony of the 54th Session of the World Health Organization's Regional Committee to be held in Cairo, Egypt, on October 11.

The prize will be given to Afrouz for the discovery of the correlation between blood groups and the development of the Down's syndrome, as well as other important researches he has conducted in this field.

Afrouz, who is also the dean of the Iranian Psychology and Counseling Organization, has received his MS and PhD in psychology and education for special children from Michigan State University.

He was chosen as the best professor in the country in 2004 and received the Kharazmi award for developing the Tehran IQ test in 2005.
